When you’re done that, you lie down on the blanket and get comfortable, you lying with your head on his chest. He leaves the hospital and roams the streets until a stranger picks him up and drives him home. Pony is in denial about Johnnys death, and keeps repeating that he isnt dead. You guys watch the sunset in each other’s arms and then when it gets dark you try to catch fireflies in a jar. After Johnnys death and Dallys departure, Ponyboy wanders through the hospitals halls in a daze. ![]() He spent his early life in New York, where he was jailed at age 10 and learned to toughen up. He starts crying when you read You Are Special and you hug him. Dallas 'Dally' Winston is the most hoodlike of the gang. You guys spend the sunset transition reading children’s books. You then sing Happy Birthday to him and you have cupcakes with candles in them, lit with his lighter. When you’re done “playing,” you spread out the blanket you brought and the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and chocolate puddings. You lead him over to the swings and at first he’s stiff and awkward, but soon he loosens up, not afraid to be free and himself around you. “I love you, Dallas Winston,” you say and he looks down at you, tears freely falling now. You see his eyes glistening with tears and you link your arm through his. “I didn’t really know what to get you for your birthday since you basically steal everything you want and more,” you say, “so I decided to give you the childhood you say you never had.” Dally looks around at the park and looks back at you. When you park, he looks at you with a confused and angry look on his face. You look out the window and drive to your destination in silence. “Happy birthday,” you say and he grimaces, reminding you about how his last few birthdays were spent in jail. He flicks his cigarette butt on the ground and stamps it out with the heel of his boot before getting in the car. Dally’s sitting on the porch, smoking, waiting for you. You the reader, or whoever you see for the preference, have softened him up since this is farther into the relationship.ĭally: You finish packing up your car then drive over to Soda’s house, where you know that Dally is staying for the time being. A/N: I know he’s too nice in this and stuff, but that’s the point. 5-6 7-8 9-10 11-12 'Greasers are almost like hoods we steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while. ![]()
